If the answer is yes, repair or replace the glass before the chip or nick grows larger.
If the glass is cracked, replace the glass.

1. Is the windshield chip or nick in the critical area (between the steering wheel and within the wiper sweep) of your windshield?
2. Is the chip or nick the size of a quarter or larger?

Depending on your insurance, your front windshield chip repair at Ace Auto Glass may be free. Ace Auto Glass guidelines for chip repair are: if the chip is smaller than a quarter and not in the driver’s field of vision, your chip may be repairable. If the chip is bigger than a quarter and in the driver’s field of vision, you should replace the front windshield.
